About Firegrove Studio

Firegrove Studio mandate is to create with and support under-represented voices in the media landscape through visual storytelling practices at the local, regional, and national levels. We are invested in centering Indigenous, Black, and People of Colour (IBPOC) use of visual arts by way of media and new media creations, as the primary way of re-imagining relationships and communities in Canada.

Adrienne Row - Smith

Adrienne (She/Her) is a photographer, videographer, consultant and producer working in both Ottawa and Toronto. Through the utilization of bold and dark imagery, Adrienne aims to bring marginalized voices to the forefront of media representation and inclusion via her media company Strast Media.

Adrienne’s work has been featured in Magazines: Splice Media Group & Monkey Goose Magazine , and a gallery exhibition: To Be Continued: Troubling the Queer Archive.

Hingman Leung

Hingman (She/Her) is a director and editor who uses her passion for storytelling to push for better representation in front of and behind the camera

Christine Toulouse

Christine is an Anishinaabe artist from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation whose current primary focus is in the traditional realm of quillwork, a form of textile embellishment using dyed or natural-coloured quills from porcupines to weave into birch bark. Her practice involves learning cultural and traditional arts and practices from First Nations Elders and promoting the significance of quillwork as a process to learn, heal, grow, and share. Christine’s technique has been passed down from quill artists preceding her.

Anna Shah Hoque

Anna Shah Hoque (she/they) is a South Asian queer femme curator, producer, visual storyteller, educator, and SSHRC Doctoral Fellow. She is invested in centring the brilliance of IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, and People of Colour) artists and creatives at the local level who use visual arts and storytelling to contribute to social, cultural, and political changes through their work.
